Brinnley turns 2 Events

I have really slacked the last 2 weeks on updates for the blog. But, I have good reason. Last weekend my family was in town AND we celebrated our little Brinnley's 2nd birthday!

Her birthday was on Thursday and because I am out of personal days at work, I took a half sick day because I had to take her into the doctor's for her 2 year check up. Before going to that, I got home and my parents, Aaron, and Brinnley were waiting for me and we left to go get some lunch at Happy Terriyaki. There was a Coldstone Creamery right next door so of course, we had to stop. We weren't sure if Brinnley would actually enjoy eating the ice cream, but they had Oreo Creme Filling flavored and she loves Oreos, so we gave it a shot - plus, it was her birthday, why not?! She obviously enjoyed it tremendously even though it was melting by the second because it was such a nice day outside!

After lunch and ice cream, we made our way to the store to waste some time - we let Brinnley pick out a few toys and then headed to her doctor's appointment. They were running late by about 45 minutes and combine that with Brinnley NOT taking a nap yet - called for a mini breakdown. It doesn't help that she HATES the doctors and screams every time we go. She threw her little fit after he was down with his examination and she went to the wall to pout. He was very impressed with her and told us where she should be going from where she is at. She has become such a great communicator at 2 years old. Each day brings a new word and she can put together at least 3-4 words at a time. After all her screaming she passed out fast when we got into the car. We were hoping to go to the zoo but she was obviously too tired for that!

After a long nap, we met up with Abbey and Kevin for her birthday dinner at Red Robin. She loves her papa and aunt Abbaday and was so excited to see them. There were a couple families/groups celebrating birthdays and each time they sang Brinnley got so excited and clapped along. We asked the waitress to sing to Brinnley and she loved it - for the most part! She got her free sundae and although she wasn't a fan of the sprinkles, she ate a big part of it! It was the perfect end to her birthday.

On Friday evening my dad and fiance and my brother and sister-in-law flew in from Seattle for the weekend. We had a jam packed weekend filled with lots of family time. Friday night before we met up with my dad at his hotel, we went to Albertson's to pick out a birthday cake for Brinnley - she found one she liked and they put Happy Birthday Brinnley on it for us and we stuck it in the fridge for the next day. We met my dad and enjoyed some dinner from Sonic in the hotel lobby/breakfast area. Brinnley was super tired since she didn't nap, again, that day and was sleeping the whole time.
We went to pick up Charlie and Julie and hung out a bit more - she was wide awake and had a great time running around like a new 2 year old!

On Saturday morning, everyone came to our house and I took a few people to my favorite coffee shop in Caldwell, The Human Bean, to get drinks for everyone. We hung out at home afterwards eating cinnamon rolls and catching up. After an hour or so, we all went our own ways to run errands before Brinnley's party. She was taking a nap so grandma and grandpa stayed behind while Aaron and I with my brother and SIL went to get a few last minute presents for her party.
Because so many people were in town for her birthday we decided to have it at Jabbers, an indoor play place for young kids. We loved the idea of them doing the set up/clean up and that Brinnley LOVES to play here. It was a great deal and we didn't think it would be TOO crowded. But I was wrong - luckily, Brinnley didn't seem to care and she had a blast. I enjoyed going from family to family and hanging out with a few of my friends who brought their little ones. It was fun but tiring. After her party in the party room, it actually slowed down a bit. We stayed for another hour to let her play and I got a chance to sit down and chat with my girlfriends who I haven't seen in awhile.

Overall, it was a lot of fun to see just how happy she was even if she hated to have Happy Birthday sung to her! :)
