Aaron and I have both worked the fair in the earlier years of our relationship, but as Brinnley came, it is just known that if you have babies, you don't work at the fair! :) Of course, even though we don't work, we visit the fair at least a few days each summer.
This last fair was no exception. Even though I was already in school and working, we still went down about 3 days worth and had a blast each time.
Yesterday, we went out to the fair during the day - we didn't have any set plans except just to enjoy ourselves. Brinnley didn't nap and it's always up in the air what that will look like but we were willing to risk it to be with family. We got there around 2pm and the Condie's from church met us there. We got some food and walked around to see the animals for a bit. I was still hungry and they were gracious enough to take Brinnley (she loves their 3 kids) and let Aaron and I have some time together. The time we had, we just went back to the booth and sat with family chatting, like usual. We ate and then went to meet up with them to see Brinnley again. She was tired, but there was no way she was going to nap. We stayed at the booth almost the rest of the night. The cousins came and Brinnley got to ride on a few rides with her cousin, Bridger. Of the whole family, beside Aaron of course, Bridger and Brinnley look the most alike! It's pretty crazy and it's hard to see in the picture below, but it's awesome. She loves her cousin.
Once her other cousins showed up, they had a blast. I couldn't imagine what we would do at the fair if we didn't have the booth. Yes, we "just" sit there and chat - but we walk around, catch up, and have fun. If we came to the fair without the booth being there we would walk around, ride a few rides, and then what? It would almost be a waste! We ended up spending just over 8 hours there and most of them were spent at the booth. Aaron took Brinnley with his dad and they came back with some prizes. Aaron won a big pink bear and Brinnley actually won a little Hello Kitty animal by herself! She was so proud of herself.
The cousins had such a blast - they know their limits about where they are able to go around the booth. There is a patch of grass behind it where we sit and there is room to run around. The cousins did just that! They chased and chased each other and then had some icees and went back for more.
They were so famished that by 9:30, they were sitting down facing the rides, each of them drinking an icee and sharing some swirl fries. They chatted just like I can imagine them doing at many more fairs to come in the future. We finally left at about 10:00 and we were hardly out of the parking lot before Brinnley fell asleep. I can only hope that the memories she made last night will stay with her and she will grow up knowing that the fair is a wonderful place to be with family that is eternal and forever.
